This role has the responsibility of collaborating with merchants to analyze and propose strategic pricing recommendations in support of Stop & Shop's broader pricing strategy (routine price optimization, strategic investments, and portfolio investments). This includes leveraging multiple data sources to develop actionable insights, evaluating and recommending technology and data sources to be integrated into pricing analytics, and serving as a thought leader to merchandising leadership on pricing strategy frameworks. Role will be responsible for building key business relationships, managing timelines and deliverables, and ensuring effective implementation of Stop & Shop's pricing strategy in specific business divisions.
Understand company pricing strategy and targets and work with commercial teams to translate into category level pricing strategies and tactics
Establish analytic models to understand impact of price investments, taking into account promo assumptions and mix impact
Leverage competitive intelligence to understand market positioning and evaluate competitors vs. Stop & Shop
Develop investment scenarios to provide recommendations to senior leadership
Manage and maintain company pricing strategy and supporting policies and procedures
Evaluate margin performance in partnership with Finance and provide insights and recommendations for improvements as applicable
Anticipate business needs and provides proactive analysis to address challenges.
Determine the effectiveness of the current business investment in price and promotional activities and identify those areas where investment is underperforming
Analyze and prepare insights and standardized reporting to reflect our overall performance for price position, financial performance and market changes
Ensure data collection from multiple sources including current and historic prices, costs, deals, allowances, promotions, competitive data and pricing is maintained and updated to support generation of business insights and recommendations.
8-10 years experience required as well as a Bachelor’s Degree
