The Team: This role is the Product Manager ('PM") for S&P DJI's Commodity Indices. Over the past several years, S&P DJI has expanded its family of indices with the propose of becoming a benchmark provider across all major asset classes. This allows us to attract and keep new clients, as well as offer multi-asset class indices. Commodity indices, such as the S&P GSCI, are a key element of this strategy. The PM is the chief spokesperson and product strategist for these indices and will highlight their benefits in client meetings, at seminars, conferences, and in the media. The PM coordinates activities with other staff from sales, channel, and marketing for new product opportunities, client requirements, and market receptivity. The PM identifies and addresses the product and service needs of clients to develop and improve new and existing products. Works closely with index management, marketing, channel and sales to promote indices, conduct road shows, and handle client interest meetings.
The Impact: Sets direction for developing value propositions for a group of index products. Develops market outreach plans and interprets results of product opportunities. Manages the product development process for select areas to identify growth opportunities and develops a robust pipeline for long term growth. Meets with key stakeholders and clients to identify opportunities globally.
Directs and coordinates the market development process by identifying, analyzing, and recommending new business opportunities. Leads project teams focused on developing key growth areas (e.g. international expansion).
Creates and maintains the business plan, including pricing. Researches and analyzes strategically relevant markets and clients to make recommendations on new business opportunities.
Provides direction to the businesses for planning and conducting new product launches.
Develops proactive strategies to respond to key performance indicators and market evolution forecasts. Acts as a project lead and/or specialized participant in negotiations. Approves and monitors a product development plan. Negotiates with various parties (including IT partners, as necessary) on deadlines/obstacles as part of the product development cycle.
Interacts and coordinates with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Channel
Works regularly with regional business leads, internal partners as well as C-Suite executives in other organizations to develop new product ideas and/or support the S&P DJI products
Has significant impact on the business's ability to implement products, platforms and programs that drive revenue results.
Relevant experience in commodity futures management or portfolio strategy
7+ years in portfolio management or portfolio strategy
Strong presentation skills
Strong analytical and writing skills, can and has authored papers for supporting indices/portfolio strategy
Exposure to US commodity and global commodity markets.
Has in-depth knowledge of the industry and competitive landscape as well as a deep understanding of S&P DJI businesses and products.
Knows and is able to anticipate clients' needs in a way that builds product capabilities and opportunities to gain competitive advantage.
Advanced degree, MBA or equivalent experience desirable.
Identifies and resolves complex problems in business and product development to improve revenue generation and business growth.
Solves problems using in-depth industry expertise.
