Cargill Protein in North America has an exciting and career advancing opportunity for the position of Pricing Specialist for the North America Protein business. This position is a key position with responsibility for leading the vision and implementation of Strategic Pricing across our [Products]. This role will support our pricing strategy definition, with an understanding of market trends, and work with the business to integrate into our strategy. This role will be responsible for supporting how we understand value we create, proactively communicate value to customers, and capture and track value to drive profitable growth for Cargill Protein.
Cargill Protein is a leader at delivering primary processed and value added proteins into the Foodservice, Retail and Manufacturing market channels. It operates several food processing facilities located in the US and Canada. Our customers In Foodservice are comprised of large national restaurant chain operators, contract feeding companies and both national and regional foodservice distributors. Our Retail customers are comprised of primarily large national grocery retailers and warehouse clubs. Our Manufacturing customers are comprised of large branded manufacturers of retail consumer packaged goods. The customers from these channels are attracted to working with Cargill because of our demonstrated leadership in delivering innovative products, integrity, operational excellence, food safety and risk management.
This position will be a core member of the Growth Ventures & Strategic Pricing team dedicated to specific products working with business teams in all of the channels and across supply chains.
20% - Build and Execute a pricing strategy capability that:
Sets pricing targets and pricing policies to maximize profitability, utilizing all available information (strategy, market, cost, competition, inventory positions/capacities, etc.) to understand and anticipate market changes.
Support Protein Pricing Strategist in refining price structures for designated products based on deep understanding of customer value drivers for given product.
Stay ahead of current trends on market, customer and competitive intelligence to support product pricing strategy definition.
Support development of strategic pricing policies and refine based on business and sales adherence and best practices.
10% - Business Results
Provide product-specific pricing guidance and measure adherence to guidance.
Provide strategic price guidance for specific product(s) in support of the business full customer responses, including price quotes and RFPs.
Support management of customer-specific price points based on defined price envelopes.
10% - Leadership
Build relationships across Cargill Protein to support the organization's transformation around understanding the value, communicating the value, and capturing and tracking the value we bring to our customers.
30% - Process
Translate pricing strategy to business rules and establish corresponding price structures leveraging available technology (e.g., PROS, Tableau).
Identify opportunities to streamline the strategic pricing processes to support consistency in pricing application across channels.
Develop and refine tools and processes to improve quality and delivery efficiency of pricing function.
Support connections with adjacent commercial processes (e.g., customer segmentation, customer contact process).
Coordinate with Protein Pricing Strategist to effectively coordinate the price and policy exception process.
30% - Analysis/Metrics
Develop baseline analytical tools and reports to improve quality.
Measure product performance and conduct product transactional analysis, leveraging external and internal data in coordination with Insights and FP&A.
Identify opportunities for margin improvement based on all available data sources and coordinate with business to generate recommended course of action.
Design pricing reports to measure specific products, track target vs. actual pricing and profitability performance, and evaluate integrity of the process.
Support value-oriented analysis and cross-channel pricing to support the business in determination of key metrics (e.g., economic value of offering).

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field
Minimum of 2 years strategic experience in pricing, commercial/sales, market strategies
Strong foundation in finance & business acumen

Ability to drive insights from data and summarize analytical output in presentations for divisions and leadership
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint
MBA or Finance, Business or Marking post graduate degree
Certified Pricing Professional
Proven deep functional subject matter expertise in strategic pricing
Proven ability to effectively identify and influence key decision makers
Familiarity with pricing-related tools, systems and technologies (e.g. PROS, Tableau, Salesforce.com, SQL)
Advanced modeling and analysis experience, including ability to develop, correct and optimize models based on various constraint
